The Line-1 Jumping Gene: HoppingĀ from Cancer Research to Exercise Science

Michael D Roberts is an Associate Professor in the School of Kinesiology at Auburn University and is the Director of the Molecular and Applied Sciences Laboratory (MASL). He received his B.S. in Biology, M.S. in Exercise Physiology from Baylor University, and his PhD in Exercise Physiology from the University of Oklahoma, with post-doctoral research at the University of Missouri-Columbia with HD1 speaker, Dr. Frank Booth. His laboratory examines how exercise and nutrition affect variables related to health and athletic performance. In his young career, he has already garnered over $1.8 million in external funding and has over 90 published scientific articles. He is a reviewer for several scientific journals and an editorial board member for the Journal for the International Society of Sports Nutrition, and Frontiers in Physiology. Current interests include protein supplementation, body composition assessment, and the skeletal muscle molecular effects of exercise training.
