A hearty congratulations goes out to Ms. Emily Schmitt, Huffines Institute Volunteer, for winning the 5K in her age group and placing second overall for women in the Fifth Annual College Station Armadillo Dash on Sunday, March 6, 2011. Schmitt crossed the finish line at 21:06.

Huffines Institute awards $6000 Practitioner Grant to Dr. Steve Crouse

Dr. Steve Crouse, former Director of the Huffines Institute, received $6000 to continue his research documenting the cardiovascular risk markers and changes in cardiac structure and function in first year football players at Texas A&M University. This study continues and follows up on Dr. Crouse and co-workers recently published study, “Electrocardiograms of collegiate football athletes” in Clinical Cardiology.

Huffines Institute awards $16,500 in Student Travel Grants

The Sydney and JL Huffines Institute for Sports Medicine and Human Performance awarded a total of $16,500 in travel grants to graduate students in Sports Medicine fields. These travel awards will be used by the students to present their research at regional, national, and international meetings.
